As a leader, a key role is to develop the skills and talents of your people. It can be expedient to focus on “getting the work done” rather than teaching and mentoring people to acquire skills and take ownership. This session will encourage people to provide guidance, support, feedback and mentoring in order to foster a more high-functioning, productive organization.
This workshop provides an overview of five critical skills in developing people:
- Acknowledge strengths and areas for development
- Establishing clear expectations
- Providing direct and constructive feedback
- Having difficult conversations
- Motivating people to adopt new behaviors and skills
Participants work on case studies; engage in role-play and get constructive feedback from Bates' coaches. Everyone should leave energized around their role in building a high-energy, productive team culture.
